Obituary for Chad Allan Fortune

Chad A. Fortune, 44, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Chad was born on February 9, 1973, in Baraboo, son of Melvin and Kathleen (Snyder) Fortune. He was a 1991 graduate of Baraboo High School. Chad served in the US Army National Guard from 1991-1993. On October 30, 2009, he married Stephanie Diehl in Baraboo. Chad was employed as a custodian for the McFarland School District until 2014.
Chad enjoyed bicycle riding with his son, running, and roller skating with his children. He rarely missed a weekend roller skating with his family. Chad enjoyed listening to jazz music especially near the end.
Chad is survived by his wife, Stephanie, whom he shared 15 years with; his daughter, Ava Fortune of Sheboygan Falls; his son, Nickolas Fortune of Sheboygan Falls; his parents, Melvin and Kathleen Fortune of Baraboo; grandparents, Verlena Fortune of Colorado and Muriel Snyder of Baraboo; mother-in-law, Kim (Bill Grunwald) Diehl of Sauk City; one sister-in-law, Sarah (Carlos Torres) Diehl of Valparaiso, Chile; one brother-in-law, David Diehl of Las Vegas; niece, Lily Diehl-Torres; his aunts, Penny Snyder of Baraboo and Linda (Alan) LaGasse of Colorado; his uncle, John (Butchy) (Gayle) Fortune of Baraboo; one great-aunt, Betty Seymore of Baraboo; and his cousin, Jason (Meredith) Adams of Colorado.
Chad was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jerry Diehl and his grandfather, Clyman Snyder.
Relatives and friends may gather at the Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo on Sunday, June 4, 2017, beginning at 1:00 pm and concluding with a memorial service at 3:00 pm with Rev. Tom Countryman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Chad’s name for his children.
