Obituary for Joyce M Jaromin (Barker)

Joyce M Jaromin (Barker)
Joyce Mary Jaromin, 95, of Sheboygan and formerly of City Point, WI passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, due to complications of pneumonia.
Joyce, born on October 19, 1921 in Norfolk, England, the daughter of Elsie (Harper) and Alfred Barker. While serving in the English army during World War II, she met her future husband, Anthony Jaromin, a U.S. Army Air Corps Medical Technician. They were married in England on September 29, 1944 and later returned to the states where City Point, WI became their home. While raising her family, Joyce worked in the family moss and cranberry businesses. Tony preceded her in death on February 23, 2016.
Joyce was a member of Martyrs Chapel in City Point. She enjoyed knitting, flower gardening, shopping with her girls, and spending time with her family. Joyce lived life to the fullest, her true selflessness putting those she loved first and never taking a day for granted. She was never one to hide her feelings, and always let those around her know how much she loved them and cherished the time they spent together. Everyday moments such as watching the birds in the backyard or having tea parties with her grandchildren were special due to her genuine joy and enthusiasm for everything that she did. Throughout her life, she remained eternally optimistic, always having a genuine interest in the lives of those she knew and loved and firmly believing in laughter sometimes being the best medicine. Her wit, charm and grace will remain in our hearts forever. She taught us to be kind, to be honest, to be grateful for all you have, to never be afraid to tell someone you love them, and to make the most of everyday.
Joyce will be deeply missed and is survived by her four daughters, Judy Tjenos of Sheboygan Falls, Jackie (Ron) Messner of Plymouth, Joan (Gary) Stickney of Kohler, and Patti (Steve) Jaromin-Meis of Marshfield; five grandchildren, William Wermuth of Sheboygan, Jason (Kristin) Dobrzynski (expecting great-grandchild) of Chicago, Rachel (Jim) Anderson of Stillwater, MN, Madeline Meis of Alexandria, VA and Audrey Meis of Marshfield; and one brother Geoffrey (Sylvia) Barker of England.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Tony; one sister, Joan Barker; and two brothers, Tom and Ivan Barker.
A private family “Celebration of Life” will be held.
Family would like to thank the staff of Shores of Sheboygan Assisted Living Center for their care and kindness to Joyce during her residence there during the past year.
Memorials are appreciated to The Shores of Sheboygan Assisted Living Center, 3319 Superior Ave, Sheboygan, WI 53081.
