LaVerne Lorraine  Multer (Multer)
LaVerne L. Multer, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 27, 2017, at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls.
LaVerne was born on August 1, 1924, a daughter of the late Edgar and Lillian (Wolf) Multer-Hinze. She was a 1943 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. She worked in Chicago for six months in Army Bond sales and records and then returned to Sheboygan. LaVerne worked in the City of Sheboygan offices for 11 years, the Internal Revenue Service for 12 years and retired as Office Manager of the Sheboygan Police Department in January 1987. LaVerne had been an office holding member in the National Secretaries Association, and the Business and Professional Women’s Association. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), where she held office of presiding as president of the Sheboygan chapter at one time.
LaVerne was a member of the Sheboygan Evangelical Free Church, where she helped in the church library, and also with the FCWM Sewing Group. LaVerne was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, playing Bridge, bowling and after her retirement attending Bible study.
LaVerne is survived by dear friends and is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Edgar John Multer Jr., and her step-father, Elmer E. Hinze.
She considered herself blessed with so many friends over the years and she valued their friendships.
A funeral service to celebrate LaVerne’s life will take place on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg at 10:45am, with Rev. Jon MacDonald officiating. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Sheboygan.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 9:30am until the time of service at 10:45am.
A memorial fund has been established in LaVerne’s name for VCY America and Campus Life.
A heartfelt thank you to those at Pine Haven that treated LaVerne with respect and dignity and in a kind and loving way.
