Obituary for Robert "Bob" Meinen

Robert "Bob"   Meinen
Robert “Bob” J. Meinen, 87, of Cedar Grove passed away Thursday evening, February 16, 2017 at Cedar Grove Gardens with family by his side.
Robert was born on April 14, 1929 to Arthur and Emily (Meylink) Meinen. He graduated Cedar Grove Academy in 1947. On June 6, 1955, Robert married his best friend, Lenore “Norie” Prinsen. Norie preceded him in death on December 14, 1999. Robert worked as a plumber at Aldag Honold Mechanical Contactors until his retirement in 1994.
Robert was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Oostburg where he served as a trustee and sang in the church choir. He was a committed member of the Men of Harmony Chorus for over 25 years, served on the Cedar Grove Village Board, the Cedar Grove Fire Department Board, and was a volunteer fire fighter with the Cedar Grove Fire Department for over 25 years. Above all, he was a devoted husband, caring father, and loving grandfather.
Robert is survived by two sons, Craig (Mary) Meinen of Carlsbad, CA, and Eric (Jean) Meinen of Oostburg; six grandchildren, Stephen (Kelsey) Meinen, Christopher Meinen, David Meinen, Catherine Meinen, Rachel (Zach) Wensink, Natalie (fiancé Raymond Kolocek) Meinen; two sisters, Ruth Kruis, and Vera (Ray) Lammers; and two brothers, Earl (Franny) Meinen, and Wayne (Muriel) Meinen.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife Lenore “Norie” Meinen, his parents, and his brother, Owen Meinen.
A funeral to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 12pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Oostburg with Rev Brian Jacobson officiating. A burial will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may gather at the church for a time of visitation on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 9 am until the time of service at 12pm.
A memorial fund is being established in his name for First Presbyterian Church of Oostburg and Cedar Grove Gardens.
