Obituary for Marie Suzanna Nyhof (Joosse)

Marie Suzanna  Nyhof (Joosse)
Marie S. Nyhof, 89, of Sheboygan Falls and formerly of Cedar Grove, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 following an automobile accident.
Marie was born on December 15, 1925, in the Netherlands, the daughter of John and Marie (Geldof) Joosse. She graduated from Wisconsin Memorial Academy in Cedar Grove in 1943 and the Sheboygan County Normal School in Sheboygan Falls. Marie was a teacher at a one-room schoolhouse west of Cedar Grove for a short time. Later she worked as a teller at Citizen Bank, First Interstate, and Norwest Banks, all in Cedar Grove until her retirement.
Marie was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove, the Women’s Ministries, and was a Sunday school and Bible Class teacher. She volunteered at Campus Life and the Oostburg Christian School Circle. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and embroidery, traveling, baking and collecting delft.
Marie is survived by her husband, Paul; her two daughters, Mary (Darryl) Hansen, West Des Moines, IA and Joan (James) Graven of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Gail Marie, Todd (Brita) Hansen, Peter (Laura) Graven, and Anne (RJ) Pirlot; six great grandchildren, Naomi and Arden Hansen, Nolan and Winston Graven, Augustus and Gabriel Pirlot; one sister, JoAnn (Carl) TenPas of Cedar Grove; three sisters-in-law, Laverne Joosse of Madison, Phyllis Joosse of Cedar Grove, and Irene Nyhof of Oostburg.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Maude (Lester) Heinen, Tannie (Clarence) DeMaster, Ann (Al) Navis, and Audrey Joosse, four brothers, George (Eunice), William (Lillian), Adrian, John Joosse, and an infant brother.
Funeral services to celebrate Marie’s life will be held at 6pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with Rev. Kent Vant Hul officiating. Burial will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 4 pm until the time of the service at 6 pm.
A memorial fund has been established in Marie’s name for Pine Haven Christian Communities.
